ONE : Open Network Ecology Throughout the history of design the relationship between nature and artifact has been representational at best and adversarial at worst. The development of the natural and the artificial into separate concepts and territories has led to a proliferation of structures, instruments and social organizations that exist for us to attempt to regulate the ways in which the natural and the artificial connect or not. This regulatory approach to design constantly misses the full potential of connective opportunities whereby natural and synthetic systems may be networked into new and innovative relationships of continuous ecological flow. Planetary ONE sees design as the establishment and development of feedback loops betwen natural phenomena and constructed entities. ONE is a systemic approach to multi-disciplinary design that innovates through open-source networking for the Earth's ecology. |
